Ryan Wark joins UAS as new Title IX Deputy Director
Ryan Wark joined the University of Alaska Southeast as the new deputy director of Title IX on May 24 of this year.
In this position, Ryan’s responsibilities are to investigate Title IX complaints that are reported to the UAS Title IX office, ensure compliance with Title IX standards, and support the Director of Office of Equity and Compliance.
Prior to joining UAS, Ryan served as a staff sergeant for the United States Air Force, an investigator for the Montana Innocence Project, a criminal investigator for the Montana Office of the State Public Defender-Missoula, and an investigator for the Lane County Public Defenders.
Ryan was born in Seattle, WA and raised on Camano Island in the North Puget Sound. He arrived in Juneau on May 22.
Ryan holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Montana in Sociology with a dual focus in Criminology and Inequality and Social Justice. Following an upcoming thesis defense, Ryan will soon hold a masters in conflict and dispute resolution from the University of Oregon School of Law.
In his free time, Ryan enjoys spending time with his 7-year-old German Shepherd named
Sammy. He also enjoys hiking, backpacking, camping, fishing, cooking and an occasional
pickup basketball game.
