UAA announces new Kodiak College director

Chancellor Cathy Sandeen

As noted in my email last week, I’m writing to announce that Ms. Jacelyn Keys will join UAA as the director of Kodiak College.

Jacelyn has more than 20 years of experience in higher education and has focused on creating a dynamic, vibrant, inclusive, students-first learning environment. She currently serves as the Hermiston Center director at Blue Mountain Community College in Oregon.

Her work includes community relationship and partner development, responding to the college’s student enrollment needs and course schedule planning. She also coordinates student orientation, registration, advising, testing and support services with Student Affairs. Her past experiences include serving as Hermiston/Pendleton Center director at Eastern Oregon University, resident director at Oregon State University and interim director of Student and Campus Life at Central Oregon Community College.

A special thank you to all those who participated in this recruitment process. I want to express my gratitude to the search committee members and to Dan O'Connor, director of Prince William Sound College, for chairing this search. Thanks also to members of our campus communities who interacted with the candidates and provided feedback.

I would be remiss if I did not extend a thank you to Betty Walters who has served as Kodiak College’s interim director for the past two years. I am so grateful for her leadership, dedication and service to the college’s faculty, staff and students.

Please join me in warmly congratulating Jacelyn. We are so pleased she will be joining the UAA team.

Sincerely,
Cathy Sandeen
