Appointment of Alex Slivka as UA Foundation CFO

The UA Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Alex Slivka as the new Chief Financial Officer of the University of Alaska Foundation, effective May 1, 2023.

Alex brings more than 40 years of experience in finance and financial markets to the foundation, having spent 22 years at McKinley Capital Management LLC as portfolio manager and marketing executive, three years as CFO of the Municipality of Anchorage, and most recently serving as the Director of Finance Operations for Providence St. Joseph Health.

In addition to his impressive professional background, Alex has demonstrated a deep commitment to community engagement throughout his career. He has served as a trustee, board member, officer, mentor, and volunteer for numerous nonprofit and community organizations, including Covenant House Alaska, Alaska Community Foundation, and Anchorage School District. He also served with distinction on the University of Alaska Foundation Board of Directors as a director since 2015, including two years as board chair and a member of the board’s investment committee since 2016, serving as chair since 2020.

Alex's contributions to the finance industry include having served as a Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Arbitrator and on various boards, including the Eyak Permanent Fund Settlement Trust, McKinley Capital 401(k) Savings Plan, and Anchorage Investment Advisory Commission.

Alex earned his AB in Economics from Brown University, and serves as an adjunct professor of finance at the University of Alaska Anchorage.
