Governor Mike Dunleavy this week announced a new appointment to the university's Board of Regents. Our new student regent has officially begun her term as well.

Tuckerman Babcock from Anchorage has been appointed to former Regent Marcum's seat (expiring 2/6/2031). Mr. Babcock has had four children attend the UA System, and his father directed the Mountaineering and Wilderness Survival program at Anchorage Community College (before ACC merged with UAA).

Albiona Selimi of Wasilla is our new student regent. Ms. Selimi has been active in USUAA Student Government, and is currently pursuing a B.A. in Political Science with minors in Justice and Women's Studies at UAA. Her term expires on May 31, 2025.

Both regents will join us in Juneau for our committee meetings and Full Board Meeting on August 30th-31st.

Please join me in welcoming Regents Babcock and Selimi to the Board.

Sincerely,

Ralph Seekins
Chair, UA Board of Regents
