October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month
National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM) – observed every October – was created as a collaborative effort between government and industry to ensure every American has the resources they need to stay safer and more secure online. Here at University of Alaska, this effort is championed by the UA Security Matters group, our system-wide security awareness team, comprised of IT staff from UAS, UAA, and OIT.
This year’s NCSAM theme is “Do Your Part. #BeCyberSmart.” UA Security Matters will be hosting a series of Zoom presentations, online scavenger hunts, publishing new security awareness articles, as well as hosting a poster and video contest. Up-to-date information on NCSAM events can be found on their web page, https://alaska.edu/securitymatters/ncsam/
The UA Security Matters web page is also a great place to find recent security news, tip guides, outreach materials, and links to security training videos.
