System Office Users Asked to Enroll in Multi-Factor Authentication by August 3

July 9, 2021

The frequency and severity of attacks on the University of Alaska's IT systems has been steadily increasing.  As a step toward mitigating risk and implementing best practices, the University's Business Council unanimously endorsed, resourced and directed OIT to conduct a project to roll out a Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) tool, DUO, for all users who have access to Banner.

The rollout of MFA continues at a rapid pace with UAS having completed their Banner staff enrollment in May and UAA on-track to complete enrollment of much of their Banner staff users by July 20.

Now it’s the System Office’s turn to ensure all Banner users are enrolled in Duo MFA, and we’re asking for your support to complete enrollment by Tuesday, August 3.   MFA will be required for System Office Banner users starting Wednesday, August 4.  Though only required for Banner users, we would like to encourage all System Office employees to enroll now because MFA helps to protect you and your personal information.

Have questions or want to learn more about MFA?  Please visit OIT’s MFA page.  Ready to enroll?  Login to ELMO and then click on “Security Settings” and choose the “Multi-Factor Authentication” option.  Need assistance?  Call 450-8300 or email helpdesk@alaska.edu and we'll be happy to help.
