UA closed Jan. 20 in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in Celebration of Alaska Civil Rights

All University of Alaska offices will be closed on Monday, Jan. 20 to recognize the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in Celebration of Alaska Civil Rights holiday. The day is one of 12 paid holidays for UA employees.

In 1994, the Board of Regents approved the holiday and changed the name to Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in Celebration of Alaska Civil Rights. This special day celebrates the legacy of  Dr. King, Alaska Native leaders and organizations, and others who have led civil rights initiatives benefiting all Alaskans.
