University of Alaska adopted new FERPA training
The University of Alaska (UA) recently adopted new Family Educational Rights & Privacy
Act (FERPA) training. It is available in the Learning Library at myUA dashboard. All
UA employees that work with and/or have access to student records are required to
complete FERPA training when they first join the university system. These same employees
are asked to complete FERPA training annually thereafter to refresh their knowledge
and help avoid FERPA violations.
Unlike the prior training, the new FERPA training does not produce a certificate. Completion of FERPA training in the Learning Library is automatically logged in Banner, the university’s student information system.
Contact your University Registrar with any questions or to report a potential FERPA violation.
