New Remote Work Agreement form released

Remote work is a management-approved arrangement that allows the employee to work at a location away from a university managed workplace. The Remote Work Regulation has been updated to reflect changes since the inception of the program in 2021.

A new Remote Work Agreement form that aligns with the Regulation changes is now available. All employees with a previous remote work agreement on file must complete the new form by January 31, 2025. In early January, UA HR will contact employees via email who currently have a remote work agreement on file and need to complete the new form.

If a change in remote work location is being requested, before initiating this form, employees should connect with their direct supervisor to discuss the change. This discussion should cover the proposed remote work arrangement's implications, expectations, and feasibility. Only after this discussion should the employee initiate this form.

The Remote Work website has been updated to incorporate regulation changes (R04.01.051). The following changes were incorporated into the regulations:

  1. The threshold for a formal remote work agreement was increased from 20% remote to 40% remote
  2. A new remote work agreement is required for a change in work location, supervisor, or position
  3. Remote work agreements will be reviewed by the supervisor and employee on an annual basis
  4. To the extent possible, the remote work hours should align with university operating hours
  5. Remote work agreements outside of the US must be pre-approved by UA HR

Please see the website for full guidelines and procedures.
