Did you know that the UA Foundation recently received a $100,000 donation to support teacher education programs across the UA system?
The spirit of giving and generosity this holiday season was certainly evident in the recent gift from Dr. Cary Keller and Mrs. Sarah Keller of Fairbanks. The gift will be used to support faculty and develop academic programs at all three universities specific to educating future teachers.
The promotion of teacher education degree programs also is critical to recruiting more students to become teachers. Promotional efforts are being led by a consortium of education faculty from all three universities through the www.teachalaska.org website. Numerous university scholarships also are available to students who seek to become a teacher.
Dr. and Mrs. Keller’s gift, and gifts made to support scholarship programs, make a difference in how our three universities recruit and train teachers for Alaska.
