Congratulations Class of 2024!
Did you know that nearly 3,000 UA students are expected to receive diplomas during Academic Year 2024?
Congratulations! UAA, UAF, and UAS campuses have been holding commencement ceremonies to honor the hard work and dedication of the Class of 2024 (UAA hosts an additional Fall Commencement Ceremony in December as well).
- 1 Big Thing: Between the three universities and their community campuses, preliminary data shows that 2,957 students have applied for graduation this academic year after completing certificate, associate, bachelor’s, and post-bachelor’s programs.
Why it Matters: Graduation is a significant personal achievement for each individual student who completes a degree or certificate. It’s a testament to their hard work, and the critical role UA graduates play in Empowering Alaska and Alaska’s workforce. The Class of 2024 joins the more than 100,000 graduates and former students who make up University of Alaska alumni.
- Retaining Alaskans: UA graduates are far more likely to stay in Alaska than students who graduate from Lower 48 institutions. (Feb. 23 Alaska Trends)
- Education pays: graduates from UA programs have much higher earning power and potential than those without college degrees.
- UA’s broad range of programs and flexibility of offerings meet students where they are—academically, geographically, culturally, and financially.
By the Numbers: At UAA, 1,443 graduation applications were received for Academic Year 2024 (504 for Fall 2023, 939 for Spring 2024). UAF expects 1,031 individuals to receive a degree or certificate. And for UAS, 483 students are expected to be a part of the Class of 2024.
- Key Statistic: Since 2011, 26,948 students have graduated from UA programs relevant to the state’s high-demand industries, and nearly 80% of those graduates are employed in Alaska within a year after graduating.
The Bottom Line: It’s time for celebration - Congratulations to the University of Alaska Class of 2024!!
