Butrovich Department Relocation Update

The first steps of Butrovich department relocations are underway. A number of offices have been painted and a few small moves have already begun. The first week in April will see some more major moves with the final relocations completed by the end of April.

Affected departments will be contacted independently on details of their move. In general they will discuss the schedule the week before, receive boxes and further instructions on Monday of moving week, and proceed with the move on Thursday and Friday. Workers with Bowers Office Supply will be in the building Thursdays and Fridays beginning March 26 to assist in the moves and reorganizations. MORE....

Statewide Staff Giving Campaign April 1 - 30

THE ESSENCE OF PHILANTHROPY IS CARING….

We hear over and over again of the financial challenge the University is facing. This challenge makes our philanthropic support more important than ever. By supporting UA through philanthropy you demonstrate that you care and believe in our students, our mission and your work.

During the month of April the University of Alaska Foundation will spotlight ways that you can show how you care for our students and programs through the Statewide Staff Giving Campaign. Express what you believe in and care for by participating in the campaign.

Look for chances to join in some fun activities during the month and help our students along the way. Each year during the staff campaign all employees’ names are entered into a drawing for two Alaska Airlines vouchers. This year we have decided to offer more ways to win. Every time you participate in one of our activities, your name will be entered again in the pool for the Alaska Airlines vouchers. You can have your name entered up to six times!

Also new this year, everyone who makes a contribution to the University of Alaska in the current fiscal year will be invited to a pizza party in May! The University of Alaska Foundation thanks all of our employees for everything you do to support UA.

THANK YOU!

SAA Highlights: Statewide Administration Assembly

Recap of March 11, 2015 Meeting

  • The administration proposed a new regulation for Electronic Signature use and a new procedure eliminating the cost of employee cell phone usage for business. SAA concurred with both.
  • Risk Management is implementing an online claims and reporting system, Origami Risk. The planned roll out date is scheduled for March 31, 2015 .
  • The Affordable Care Act will affect our health care policies. All employees who work 30 hours or more will qualify for health care but the premiums will climb between 30-45% in FY16.
  • There was some concern over the final furlough policy. It did not include the time limit staff requested and changes were not reviewed by governance.
  • The SAA nomination period is open right now and ends on March 27 .
  • A Heart Walk team has formed in the Butrovich building. The contacts are Lael Oldmixon and Buffy Kuiper.
  • Butrovich is currently planning on a big move as room is made for K-12.
