One Health

UA continues to lead in developing the One Health initiative, which recognizes the interdependence of human, animal, and environmental health, and that a holistic approach to the wellbeing of all will improve health outcomes and enhance resilience. One Health aims for more than simply the absence of disease. Instead its goal is a state of individual and community wellbeing that encompasses not only physical health, but mental, behavioral, emotional, cultural, and spiritual health as well. The One Health paradigm, pioneered by UA in Alaska, serves as a model that is congruent with indigenous cultures around the world.
