1,417 alaska.edu Emails found in Zynga Breach

image of credentialsIn September 2019, game developer Zynga (the creator of Words with Friends) suffered a data breach. The incident exposed 173M unique email addresses alongside usernames and passwords stored as salted SHA-1 hashes. The data was provided to HIBP by dehashed.com.

Among those email address were 1,417 University of Alaska emails. Visit HaveIBeenPwned to see if your email has been involved in this (or any other) breach.

You can minimize the risk to your accounts by avoiding using the same login and password combination for multiple sites.  Using long and unique passwords for each account helps protect you and the university in the case of a breach.
