Teisha Simmons “Naggakk’o” has been appointed as interim dean of the University of Alaska Fairbanks, College of Indigenous Studies.
Simmons, who holds a Master of Arts in Clinical-Community Psychology, brings a wealth of experience from her previous roles as a faculty member and senior administrator at UAF. Simmons is from the Yukon and Koyukuk River communities of Galena, Koyukuk, and Huslia. As the former Interior Alaska Campus director, Simmons oversaw faculty and staff while serving as principal investigator on numerous federal and state grants.
Simmons’ connection to the College of Indigenous Studies runs deep, having engaged
as a student, staff member, and faculty member.
Simmons’ deep dedication to advancing Indigenous education, coupled with her extensive
UAF experience, positions her to strategically lead the College of Indigenous Studies
forward.
