Banner Support

Banner is an administrative software package for use in higher education and developed by Ellucian. The University of Alaska uses Banner to maintain integrated data for finance, human resources, student, and financial aid systems. A few examples of University systems powered by Banner include UAOnline, DegreeWorks, and Travel & Expense Management. For direct links to the various facets of UA’s Banner system (finance, HR, student, Banner support, and Accesses information) please visit the menu items located in the yellow box on the left.

Banner News

Banner and Workflow logins use the same username and password as UAOnline, e-mail, and many other University of Alaska services.

For Banner:
Make sure your bookmarks and links to Banner point to https://banner.alaska.edu/

For Workflow:
Make sure your bookmarks and links to Workflow point at https://workflowprod.alaska.edu:9044/workflow/.

  • Enable Java (Java 1.8 32-bit| 64-bit

  • Accept Cookies
  • Microsoft .NET 3.5 SP1 (for ISSM)

Banner training is available through each campus as well as OIT.  Please consult your MAU's (major academic unit such as UAF, UAA, UAS or SW)  training page for class descriptions and scheduling.

How To …

Contact your Campus Security Coordinator to request access to Banner.

UA System Employees please download and complete the Administrative Access Request Form and submit it to the appropriate Campus Security Coordinator.

UAF Employees please download and complete the appropriate Security Access Request Form and follow the submission directions on the form.

Once you have been granted access to Banner by your Campus Security Coordinator, use your internet browser to navigate to https://banner.alaska.edu.

If you need to utilize your legacy banner credentials for another service, you will need to bypass the single sign option. Instead navigate to: https://banner.alaska.edu/forms/frmservlet?config=banprod This may also be used in cases where you are experiencing "java.security.invalidkeyexception:wrong key size"

Once you have been granted access to a non-Production Banner instance by your Campus Security Coordinator, use your internet browser  to navigate to the URL for the specific instance.

You can adjust your font size by going to a custom URL:
https://banner.alaska.edu/?clientDPI=100
Adjust the "100" after "clientDPI=" to fit your needs.  As of 4 Feb 2016, this URL has been updated log into Banner using your UA Username.

Banner requires a connection to the UA Network.  The VPN can be used to connect to the UA Network when away from University locations (i.e. at home or traveling).
