User Extensions Policy
There are no restrictions currently on what browser extensions or plugins a UA user can install; however, it is the user’s responsibility to vet the extension to ensure it safely supports UA business practices.
Specific items to be aware of are:
- The user is responsible for understanding how or what university data is accessible to the extension.
- The extensions should have a valid use case in support of UA business practices, and must not violate any data privacy policies.
- The user is responsible for any fees that may be incurred by using the browser extension.
- The user must keep their browser and related extension/plugin updated to the latest secure versions.
Note: use of extensions in order to bypass standard security practices meant to protect the integrity and privacy of university data, financial information, or other protected information is prohibited.
If you aren’t sure if the extension can be properly vetted, don’t install it. Instead, contact your local IT Service Desk for guidance.
