LaNora Tolman was born in Sacramento, California. She moved to Delta Junction, Alaska 41 years ago where she went to high school, worked as a Dental Assistant, and married her husband, Michael. LaNora and Michael moved to Fairbanks with their three children in 1995 where she worked as an administrative assistant for the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District from 1996 until 2004. She started working for UAF in March 2005 as Office Manger for Alaska and Polar Regions Collections at the Rasmuson Library. She obtained her A.A. degree at UAF in 2009. She resigned from work for one semester to fulfill the core science labs and work on her B.A. in psychology and minor in applied business. In December 2009, the UAF Provost's Office hired her as the Accreditation and Assessment Coordinator and then she took the UA System Governance executive officer position in December 2012. In her leisure, she enjoys traveling, walking, reading, playing games on the Internet, and spending time with her four grandchildren.

Joseph Altman moved his family to Alaska from Washington at the start of 2012. He has worked in the university environment for a few years now originally at Washington State University. He worked for the Department of Public Safety before taking the current System Governance position. Prior to his adventure into academia, he assisted in running his family business - a picture framing and art gallery.
