Lael Oldmixon recognized as one of Alaska's Top 40 under 40

The Alaska Journal of Commerce announced the members of the 2017 Top Forty Under 40 and Lael Oldmixon,UA College Savings and UA Scholars Program Executive Director, is among them.

Alaska’s Top Forty Under 40, sponsored by the Alaska Journal of Commerce, recognizes the state’s top professionals younger than age 40 who have demonstrated professional excellence and a commitment to their community.

"I'm thrilled to be included among such fine leaders in the state," said Oldmixon. "If you look through the list, there are some pretty stellar people on it. Truly, I keep asking how I got there.Yes, I'm involved in number of community organizations, but I feel that I've gained more from them they probably have from me (personally and professionally). And I feel that it's all part of being a good citizen. I've been driven to get involved and stay involved because Alaska is my home and I want to be a good steward for future generations. It's also an honor to serve as an employee at UA, I'm passionate about higher education, access and attainment, and I feel particularly fortunate to work with the UA College Savings Plan and the UA Scholars program team because I'm able to focus on postsecondary access and attainment for Alaska youth."

The 2017 Top Forty Under 40 will be honored at an awards dinner on April 28 at the Hotel Captain Cook in Anchorage.

Next time you see Lael congratulate her on this exceptional recognition!
